The protective coating ordered to Imperial specifications was created in Bylar Labs, High Mount City, Coruscant. Mass production of the material and application to the weapon is performed at the manufacturing plant in Kor-Din Minor System, planet Hydyos. Exact location of manufacturing facility is specified in Terran Manufacturing document TER-MAN-2003DEO4.1B. Initial application performed at Orbital Facility Jasper (Coruscant proper) was unproductive due to the limited size of the station.

Coating material meets and exceeds Imperial Standards from laser penatration. Testing has shown that one thousand (1000) hits at the same point of impact has no damaging effect on the coating or the material it is coated on. The coating reflects up to eighty-nine (89%) of the laser blast disapating the remainder of the blast throughout the coating. The remaining percentage of laser temporary heats up the surface for point eight (.8) seconds as it is disapated. Stormtrooper gloves are resistant to the temporary surface heating. Human skin exposed to the heated coating will experiance mild burns. Bacta treatment will cure these burns within 22 hours.

The reflected laser fired from a Blastech E-11 is still lethal. Testing has shown that a hole point zero two (.02)meters in diameter, point zero five (.05)meters deep has been produced from a reflected shot into carbon plating.
